I bought this camera to replace a GoPro Hero 4 that I use on a FeiyuTech 3-Axis Gimbal mounted on a custom drone. It was frustrating attempting to control the camera mode and shutter via pwm RC signals on the GoPro it worked but it required a special Wi-Fi module that was not very reliable. So I did a lot of research and found the FireFly 8s with the optional RC cable (available on banggood) was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. 1. 4K 2. Controllable camera mode via RC PWM 3. Controllable shutter via RC PWM 4. Internal stabilization 5. Good image quality 6. No fish-eye lens After I received the camera and RC cable I installed everything to test it out. It was perfect!!! I was actually surprised by a cool feature that no one talks on reviews. The RC cable has a power wire that will allow the camera accept a 2S-6S battery input (It also works down to 5V) and when there is not power present (IE you unplug your drone battery) the camera will automatically shut off and turn it back on when you plug your battery back in. So you literally do not have to mess with the camera when your ready to fly. RC Shutter And Mode Control: The camera only requires 1 RC Channel to control the mode and shutter. I programmed mine on a 3 way switch on my transmitter (middle = off down = take a picture up = record video). And when viewing through goggles or a FPV display the OSD visible and indicates what mode you are in and if you are recording. I’m really happy with the purchase!
